My Catskill home, in progress…

meadow planting

even before we moved in, we seeded this meadow on a disturbed slope that was covered in excavation fill. It came in beautifully and in the coming years we will be working to ensure it remains all native.

Our first winter

With a view like this, we don’t need much landscaping. While I am planning a lush garden for the front, most of what we will be doing here is managing our meadow for maximum color and habitat, experimenting with different strategies like hugels and live stakes, to maximize the properties wildlife value.

front porch

this is my family, installing our front porch and deck. We chose black locust for the decking as it is locally grown and is a very hard and rot resistant wood.
