Riverhook preserve

In June 2018, the Village of Upper Nyack purchased the 12-acre property that would become River Hook Preserve. After years of neglect, this site is overrun with non-native plants and the ecosystem is no longer healthy. Designed to be installed in phases, the plan will restore the ecosystem and increase the biodiversity that has been lost and as a consequence. The aim is to create places for people to interact with nature, provide shelter and food for insects, bees, and caterpillars, as well as birds and small mammals. four booklets were created as to foster the project along and educate. This is a long standing project that will be evolving over several years. Mowing paths through existing meadows for access, nature play area, seeded meadows and screening are all part of this project.
